This afternoon in the course on [Wise Speech](https://www.orenjaysofer.com/)
[Oren Jay Sofer][2] was discussing non-violent communication (NVC) of Marshall Rosenberg in the context of his own models of wise speech that he has written about in his book "[Say What you Mean"][3].
Rosenberg has indicated four components in his [book on NVC ][4]
Observe: watch your own self
Feel: Express the point of conversation using feeling words, so "I fee X"
Need: Express the need with something like, "I need X because Y"
Request: Make a request based on O, F, N
OJS adds to that framework:
Lead with presence. — conversations can only be had when people are undistracted and present in the conversation
Come from curiosity and care. — This is where he was focusing on the need aspect of communication
Focus on what matters. — Another aspect that is only possible when one understands one's needs.
Discussed the role of how you can focus on own needs and others' needs for generating more peaceful conversations
