Shade is a matter of life and death; getting too little means getting too exposed to sunlight, which can lead to dizziness, heatstroke, and more.
In LA, shade is mostly given to the wealthy (e.g. wider sidewalks, more trees).
Grassroots efforts to add more shade are hard to execute since they have to comply with public regulations.
