Often confused with equality. With true equity, each individual is catered to differently based on their own unique needs in order to achieve fairness/impartiality (from Brandeis University).

    • Shade is a matter of life and death; getting too little means getting too exposed to sunlight, which can lead to dizziness, heatstroke, and more.

    • In LA, shade is mostly given to the wealthy (e.g. wider sidewalks, more trees).

    • Grassroots efforts to add more shade are hard to execute since they have to comply with public regulations.
