On Practicing

There is something internally beautiful about practicing

Alone in a practice room —

thinking, trying, feeling

striving to be better

striving to unpack your feelings

channeling them to every fiber of your sound

Sometimes you strategize and problem-solve in a deeply focused state

Sometimes you let go of your mind and allow music to flow through your body

There is no one but You —

Experience your growth

Bits by bits

With no beginning nor end

"Play for the sake of playing"

Sometimes you feel trapped;

With so many repetitions,

Would you end up where you need to be?

With so much focus on one thing,

What are the experiences that you are missing?

Sometimes you try to break your patterns,

Escaping

            your routines

your work ethic

            your responsibilities

Do you feel renewed?

Or do you

Experience the sensation of being trapped more vividly?

Do you feel trapped

because you are drawn to some other things?

Where is the place that you want to be?

What is freedom, do you think?

It comes with discipline

Emptying of the mind

Free from worries, doubts, or greed

Getting into the flow —

Aren't we always free when we are practicing?
