Art: Photography and What is Real?

Plaza de España, Seville, Spain

Photo Taken May 2015

Adobe Photoshop, October 2019

For this assignment, we were asked to create a piece that incorporated real and artificial aspects. My initial idea motivated me to take realtime photos, however after my first prototype I was not satisfied.

But after talking to my peers and professor, I decided to use a photo from a couple years ago.

Memories and photos that evoke memories can not be brought into realtime therefore, this photo of the Plaza de España suggests a sense of nostalgia. Which contributes to the “fakeness” of a real photo.

And of course the undeniable imagery of God creating the sun and moon, which pays respect to the Plaza's existing images of spiritual and religious figures.
