I am learning music production! So, here is a compilation of notes and things as I learn, because maybe this will get me to write more often. Also, I am finding bugs for jimmy.
I've been listening to techno for a while now, but I have never tried actually making the music I listen to, outside of messing around with a pirated copy of fruity loops once when I was 13 years old. So, at age 29, I pirated a copy of Logic Pro X, and I started making computer noises.
Let's see, if I do this I might as well set an ambitious goal, no?
I could try to make at least 1 track every day. At the very least, I'll try to release an album? I don't know, is that a thing. A record would be cool, but I'm good with a soundcloud album.
Here are things I am using to learn.
- hard lurking /r/technoproduction
- youtube (duh)
- chord progression and 🎶🔮🤹♂️music theory 🎶🔮🤹♂️
- good composition
- try to understand and nail down styles
- logic pro keyboard shortcuts
- bussing and side-chaining tracks
- trying to recreate a template song
- how exactly does one mix down a track
- exporting
- transposing tracks
- track automation
- making plugins
- sampling
- using samples
- i mean i guess analog synthesizers would be cool
