why volunteer?
to provide a net positive to society and humanity. maybe not everything needs to be within the capitalist confines of making money. maybe we can volunteer our skills and knowledge to help progress the world to a better place.
i was feeling kind of pessimistic one day; it really felt as though everyone moved through the world to achieve their ultimate goal to be rich or fulfill individual hedonistic goals. i tried to shake myself out of this negativity by thinking about the positive what if.
> what if we didn't all just care about making ourselves happy and rich?
> what if some people actually cared?
> how could we contribute to making the world better if everyone just goes to work to make their own money and then comes home to just watch netflix?
> those with more resources should use those resources to lift the underprivileged so we can all progress together
> aw man, but i don't have any money as a student right now. how can i help?
> wait...i do have time though. OH. that's what volunteering is for!
