How being interdisciplinary makes you a better designer

Last August 18, 2022, I had the privilege of giving a talk for the community of Swarm, a tech community of builders and founders. My talk was titled: "How being interdisciplinary makes you a better designer". I realize that a lot of my friends weren't able to make it to the talk, so for their and posterity's sake I've uploaded some of my slides here.

I was unsure of myself even after getting into my dream course, until I had a Eureka moment.
﻿
﻿
The tweet that started it all - this is where I got the term "knowledge weaver" in the first place.
﻿
To illustrate the joys of knowledge weaving, I used one of my projects as an example: Indigenized Internet.
﻿
Using Indigenized Internet as a case study, I explained in-depth how I did my knowledge weaving for it.
﻿
To make things explicit, I listed down the tangible benefits of knowledge weaving.
﻿
To illustrate things further, I gave some examples that would be familiar to my audience, which was people from the tech and design scene.
﻿
I then gave tips on how one could practice knowledge weaving. My first piece of advice was to honor one's curiosity.
﻿
My point here was that expanding one's horizons could be daunting, but doing so was the key to effective knowledge weaving and further growth.

I ended with this point. The practice of knowledge weaving in itself sets one apart from the rest, and so being assured of oneself is a necessity.

I was happy with the feedback I got; several people expressed their thanks for my perspective and that they had learned a lot. Thank you once again to Swarm for letting me talk about something I'm passionate about!
