Nothingness and a new friend

I'm hiding out somewhere for the month of January with the goal of deliberately doing nothing. It's very far from the majority of my family and friends. So far, it's been really, really good.

For now, I don't want to expose myself to spending time around a lot of people in my social circles. My current frame of mind is tenuous. I am not yet stable enough, mindset wise, to share where I am with people like this.

Today, I met a new friend who illustrates the power of manifestation. He takes a different path than I do. His is the way of Nichiren Buddhism, and he introduced me to this organization called SGI. I think I will be checking them out tomorrow. I think this might be the response to my desire for community and communal understanding when it comes to the creative laws of the universe.

I think the universe had us meet at this junction because of where we both are. He just left school, the same school I graduated from four months ago. We're both trying to figure out how to define our respective paths moving forward — paths that differ from the conventional one. He's achieved a kind of unlikely worldly success I've seen in my partner, and very few others.

Nichiren Buddhism refers to the law of cause and effect. When my new friend mentioned this, I immediately thought of the law of attraction. As if I needed any more evidence to render my belief in it complete.
